Covid cluster at Yuen Long restaurant grows

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) said on Sunday that four more customers of a restaurant in Yuen Long have tested positive for Covid-19, raising the number to eight.

Officials stated that the infected customer, who was between 56 & 67,, had eaten breakfast at Peony Golden Court last Sunday. This happened around the same time and place as the previous four cases.

According to Dr Albert Au, the CHP, seven were triple-jabbed and the eighth had received two doses.

All of the symptoms were mild to none, he said.

190 Customers of Yuen Long have had to go through mandatory Covid screening.

Au stated that authorities now have more resources to conduct epidemiological studies, as the pandemic situation has gotten better.

He stated that as the incidence of coronavirus infections decreases, it is important to increase contact tracing and infection control in areas where outbreaks have been reported. This will help to reduce the transmission chain in the community.

On Sunday, the total number of coronavirus infections in Hong Kong dropped to 266. This was down from 278 on the previous day. 112 were confirmed by PCR and others reported by self-testers. They included 23 import infections.
