The Punjab Police arrested Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga, a Delhi BJP spokesperson. He was taken from his home in the capital city on Friday by the leaders of the party.
The police have not yet made any statements about their arrest.
Bagga is a vocal opponent of Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi. The AAP (which is in Delhi and Punjab) criticized him for his tweet about Kejriwal’s ‘The Kashmir Files movie.
Last Month, Bagga was booked by the Punjab Police on charges of provocation, inciting enmity, and criminal intimidation. This case was filed on the complaint of Mohali resident.
BJP leader in Punjab, Tarun Chugh (the party’s national secretary) tweeted: “The Punjab police have arrested Bagga at his residence. The police behaved cruelly towards Bagga’s father and son. Remember (Arvind Kejriwal Ji), such actions cannot be intimidated by a true Sikh. “
Delhi BJP leader Kapil Maishra stated in the morning, “more than 50 Punjab Police personnel arrested Tejinder Bagga at his home.” Arvind Kejriwal seems to have used the Punjab Police’s power to silence Bagga.
In an online video, he claimed that the Punjab Police were being used against activists to suppress Bagga and not for the maintenance of law and order within the state.
