On Sunday, bustle and hustle returned to restaurants as people took advantage of the eased social distancing and went out to celebrate Mother’s Day.
This festive event came days after the government lifted its limit on how many people can sit at a table in restaurants from 4 to 8.
Mong Kok’s Chinese restaurant had a grandmother named Wong tell RTHK her nine-member family needed to eat at two different tables in order to follow the rules. However, that didn’t dampen their enthusiasm.
“[I’m] Happy that my three generations of children and grandchildren are here,” she stated, noting that this is the first time they have ate out together in over two years.
Prince Edward’s flower market was also crowded, as many fathers bought flowers for their kids.
One shopper stated, “This one’s for Mommy. This one’s for Granny. The other is for us helper.”
One primary school boy bought a bouquet on his own for his mom.
He said, “Mommy! Happy Mother’s Day!”
