SENATE Minority leader Franklin Drilon said Sunday that Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo would win if elections had been held Saturday.
The senator said this when asked about Robredo’s large rally at Macapagal Boulevard in Pasay City, which coincided with her 57th Birthday.
“Kung-ang-eleksyon, panalo Na Kami [If we had held the election last night, then we would have won],” Drilon stated in an Iloilo City press conference.
“Indeed It is a grand rally at Macapagal not just because of the [of the attendees], but also due to the passion and enthusiasm of those who attend,” he stated.
“It is obvious that they were not paid participants. This was the main difference at all rallies I attended. This was the last time that I witnessed it in 1986,”, the senator said. “I am confident that despite all of the challenges, the will of the people will prevail and find its way to the polls. “
He stated that Robredo’s supporters and her running mate Sen. Francis Pangilinan started to walk at 11 AM in order to get there.
” I saw it firsthand. It wasn’t the first time that I had seen it. [I saw these huge crowds] In Pampanga and in Bacolod,” said he.
